    Parents, Staff, and Tax Payers,

Recently there has been a lot of false information communicated out in public about our construction project.  While I don’t place value in anonymous calls or social media posts, I do recognize that they can be damaging to what we are trying to accomplish.  I hope the information I share with you can ease your mind and put some of the misinformation to rest.

First of all, please mark your calendar for Thursday, March 8th at 7:00 p.m.  in the High School Activities Room.  Our project manager Karen Hedglin and I will be hosting an informative meeting for anyone with questions or concerns about the move into trailers and work being done this spring in the elementary.

I hope the information below is helpful for you as we head down the home stretch.  The work that has so far been completed is fantastic as will be the work that is yet to come.  If you have any questions or concerns, please attend the above listed meeting.

    Roll on Tigers!

    Scott Chauvet, Superintendent

    1.    ANSWER TO QUESTIONS CONCERNING WHY WE ARE MOVING TO THE TRAILERS FOR SEVEN WEEKS:
    •         THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ADDED ADDITIONAL WORK TO IMPROVE THE LONG TERM MAINTENANCE OF THE ELEMENTARY BUILDING.
    •         TO COMPLETE THIS WORK AND REMAIN ON TIME TO BEGIN SCHOOL AFTER LABOR DAY, THE PROACTIVE DECISION TO MOVE TO TRAILERS WAS MADE.
    •         THE OTHER OPTION WAS TO MOVE CLASSES TO GYMNASIUM AND DISRUPT LUNCH, PE CLASSES, AND OTHER EVENTS HELD THERE.
    •         TRAILERS ARRIVE MARCH 15; MARCH 30 MOVE INTO TRAILERS.
    1.    ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS CONCERNING CONSTRUCTION SAFETY ISSUES AND CONCERNS:
    •         SAFETY HAS BEEN PUT FIRST THROUGH THIS ENTIRE PROCESS.
    •         ALL WORKERS HAVE PASSED BACKGROUND CHECKS.  WORKERS ARE SUPERVISED BY A FULL TIME SITE FOREMAN FROM DICK ANDERSON LOCATED IN THE ELEMENTARY AT ALL TIMES.
    •         CURRENTLY, THE SCHOOL IS UNSECURED AND HAS BEEN FOR YEARS, SO ANYONE OFF THE STREET CAN ENTER THE BUILDING.
    •         CONSTRUCTION WORKERS WILL BE IN A CONTROLLED ZONE, HAVE PASSED BACKGROUND CHECKS, AND CONSTANTLY MONITORED.  CONSTRUCTION WORKERS ARE THE LEAST OF YOUR WORRIES.
    •         MANY SUBCONTRACTORS ON SITE ARE LOCAL TO MANHATTAN OR AMSTERDAM AND THEIR CHILDREN ATTEND OUR SCHOOL. SOME LOCAL CONTRACTORS TO NOTE ARE KREDIT ELECTRIC, TESORO MASONRY, GALLATIN VALLEY ELEVATOR, ACE ENGINEERING, BIG SKY R CONTROL.
    •         ALL CONSTRUCTION ZONES WILL BE ENCLOSED WITH WOOD STUD WALLS, PLYWOOD SHEETING, AND PLASTIC BARRIERS FOR DUST CONTROL, AND VISUAL BARRIERS.  STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO JUST WALK INTO ANY ZONE UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
    •         APPROPRIATE DANGER AND CONSTRUCTION ZONE SIGNAGE WILL BE POSITIONED THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL TO INDICATE SAFE PATHS FOR TRAVEL.
    •         ACCESS TO ELEMENTARY AT THE LIBRARY ENTRANCE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED AFTER SPRING BREAK FOR STAFF OR STUDENTS.  ALL ACCESS WILL BE THROUGH THE “MIDDLE SCHOOL” ENTRANCE BY THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE.
    1.    ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS CONCERNING CONSTRUCTION NOISES.
    •         THE LOUDEST DEMOLITION TASKS WILL BE COMPLETED OVER THE SPRING BREAK WEEK WHEN THE SCHOOL IS UNOCCUPIED.
    •         CONSTRUCTION NOISE WILL BE MINIMIZED AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE DURING THE SCHOOL DAY.
    •         EAR PLUGS WILL NOT BE NECESSARY.
    •         CLASSROOM SPACES CLOSEST TO THE CONSTRUCTION AREAS WILL BE RELOCATED DUE TO THE NOISE CONCERN.
